The water should become comfortably warm—not hot.
Very hot water can irritate or burn sensitive skin.
Step 4: Strain the Water
Remove the cloves from the liquid.
Only the diluted infused water should be used for the sitz bath.
Step 5: Prepare the Sitz Bath
Place the warm water in a clean basin or sitz-bath container.
Sit in the water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
The water should cover the external area that you want to soak.
Important: External Use Only
A clove-water sitz bath should only involve the external genital area.
It should not be used inside the vagina.
The vagina naturally maintains its own environment and does not need to be cleaned internally.
Avoid:
- Vaginal douching
- Pouring clove water inside the vagina
- Using concentrated clove oil internally
- Inserting cloves or herbal mixtures into the vagina
These practices can irritate delicate tissues and potentially disturb the normal vaginal environment.
How Often Can It Be Used?
There is no established medical recommendation that women need regular clove-water sitz baths.
If someone chooses to use one for comfort, occasional use is generally more appropriate than frequent or prolonged use.
If symptoms continue or return, it is better to determine the underlying cause rather than repeatedly treating the symptoms with home remedies.
