Finally, that taste of the place next door, only fresh from your own pan. This shashlik, just like the kind you get at a snack bar, combines juicy meat skewers with peppers and onions in a spicy-sweet sauce that tastes exactly like you remember. Just sear it, let it simmer, and your after-work classic is ready. One bite and you’ll never order from a snack bar again.

Ingredients: 1 kg pork goulash, 2 medium onions, 150 g bacon (cut into strips), 3 bell peppers, 150 ml strong beef broth, 500 g ketchup, 1 tsp curry powder, ½ tsp sweet paprika powder, a pinch of garlic granules, 2 tbsp oil, salt, and pepper.

Heat the oil in a pan and sear the meat in batches until browned on all sides. Then transfer it to the slow cooker.

Fry the bacon and coarsely chopped onions in the pan drippings for a few minutes and add them to the meat. Cut the bell peppers into pieces and distribute them over the meat.

Mix the beef broth, ketchup, curry powder, paprika powder, and garlic granules together to make a sauce and pour it evenly over the meat.

Cook, covered, on high for about 4–5 hours or on low for 6–7 hours, until the meat is very tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Serve with rice, noodles, mashed potatoes, or fries. Enjoy!
